We take a lot of pride in the work that leaves this shop. That's why we're very selective with our customer base — when we put our name on a repair, it has to be right. Here's what it takes to be a G&J customer.

What We Need From You

Booking starts with all of these. No exceptions, no shortcuts. If we don't have them, we can't book you in.

  • VIN — vehicle identification number
  • License plate number
  • Photos of your car — all sides, before drop-off
  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Description of issue or service request
  • Agreement to terms & conditions

Why: We document every car at drop-off so there's never a paint-or-damage dispute later. Photos protect both of us. Without this, we don't open a job.

Paid Diagnostics

If we need to dig deeper:

  • $250 Standard diagnostic
  • $300 Electrical diagnostic

Both apply toward your repair if you proceed.

Maintenance is preventative — not a fix for mechanical issues.

If your engine is knocking, your transmission is slipping, or you have a real mechanical problem, we won't take it as an oil change or fluid service. Maintenance is for healthy cars. Mechanical repairs require a diagnostic first. This isn't negotiable — it's how we deliver work we can stand behind.

Estimate Terms — Highlights

Before any repair, you'll see a written estimate with our terms. Here are the highlights:

  • Warranty: 1 year / 12,000 mi on new parts (provided by us). 30 days on used parts. NO warranty on customer-supplied parts or tuned vehicles.
  • Storage fee: $50/day after 3 days post-completion.
  • Credit card surcharge: 3% on card payments.
  • Fuel: vehicle must arrive with at least half a tank for diagnostics ($30 service fee otherwise).
  • Pre-existing damage: not our responsibility. Documented at drop-off.
  • Test drives authorized for diagnostic purposes when vehicle is left with us.

After-Repair Acknowledgment

When you pick up your car, you're confirming:

  • You inspected the vehicle and confirm it's in acceptable condition.
  • You were shown old + new parts, photos, or other proof of the work.
  • The original concern is resolved to your satisfaction.
  • You have no further open complaints regarding this repair.
  • Old parts are disposed of unless you ask before pickup.
  • Payment, signature, or vehicle pickup constitutes full acceptance.

We love a good diagnosis. The kind of repair where you bring in a problem nobody else could figure out, and we walk you through exactly what we found and how we fixed it. That's the work we built this shop around.

A few things outside that wheelhouse: quick oil changes (SpeeDee down the street handles those well) and pre-purchase inspections. We can install parts you've supplied yourself, but we won't warranty that work — if you want the job covered, we'll source the parts.

We back what we control: every part we provide and every repair we perform comes with our warranty. We don't extend that warranty to the overall condition of the vehicle itself — many cars we see have well over 150,000 miles, complex prior service histories, or wear in components outside the scope of the repair — so our coverage stays focused on the parts and labor we directly deliver.

Pad and rotor replacement, caliper rebuilds, brake-line repair, and ABS diagnostic work. Stop with confidence on Sacramento's hills and freeways.

Battery & Electrical

Battery testing & replacement, alternator and starter repair, parasitic-draw diagnostics, wiring & sensor work — including modern CAN-bus systems.

Fuel System Cleaning

Injector cleaning, throttle-body service, intake decarbonization. Restore lost MPG and smooth out rough idles on high-mileage engines.

Filters & Maintenance

Engine air, cabin air, fuel filter, and spark plug replacement. Manufacturer-spec scheduled-maintenance services to protect your warranty and resale value.

Timing belts & serpentine belts, CV axles & driveshafts, water pump, power steering, intake & exhaust manifolds, suspension, cooling system, exhaust — and engine & transmission repair or replacement. If it can be done without a factory lift, it gets done here.
